RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support in market research of basketball ecosystem and sports industry
  • Assist in mapping out relevant global sports industry initiatives
  • Collect and update our international player informational database
  • Support our data consultant as he improves and develops our player/brand dashboard
  • Coordinate and support in filing international player marketing opportunities
  • Support where necessary in international special projects

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate (Junior/Senior) or Graduate student
  • Sports Management or Business major
  • Experience with Keynote and Google suite programs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive and able to move projects forward without daily contact with team members

POSITION OVERVIEW: This position will be responsible for Assisting in producing and executing basketball experiences, development programs and outreach that grow the brand, enhance marketing partnerships, connect with NBPA members, create digital/broadcast content and foster awareness for the NBPA, players and our facility.

Work with the Senior Director of Business Development to execute programs that will generate revenue via multiple programming opportunities for THINK450 marketing partners, elite youth and adult consumers to participate in “pay to play” basketball and fitness activities including experience packages, tournaments, facility events, meet & greets, ‘fantasy’ events, etc.

Assist in executing live basketball and online programs that focus on improving the quality of the game and strengthening the basketball pipeline for the NBPA with our partners and members.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:  

Business Development

  • Research and assist in managing event target lists/prospects - PR agencies, location scouts, brands, non-profits, corporations, families etc.  Identify and host collaborate with organizations whose clientele would be the right fit to produce events and facility rentals (when permitted).
  • Research, analyze, and develop special event revenue generating opportunities (player appearances, meet & greets, product launches, etc).
  • Maintain positive and close relations with each event client/participant to ensure satisfaction, transparency and repeat business upon satisfaction including referrals to grow network. 


Events 

  • Work closely with the Senior Director Business Development & Key Initiatives in collaborating with Digital and Communications teams to develop content from events and programs.
  • Work closely with the Senior Director in executing NBPA basketball, 3rd Party and virtual experiences, activations and programs.
  • Assist in executing impactful basketball marketing programs and events leveraging social media, radio, print and digital platforms to maximize visibility and provide meaningful content for our brand and partners.
  • Help conduct research and bring to life new NBPA elite basketball strategic development.
  • Assist in tracking and logging event sign-ups and payments into an Excel database through LeagueApps and via e-mails/phone calls for sponsored participants.
  • Maintain a master database of participants’ information, including age and emergency contact information.
  • Provide SVP & Senior Director with weekly updates on event sign-ups including online revenue tracking.
  • Responsible to process program payments by entering participants’ payment information into online registration tool.  Work with the Finance Department to set up the payment gateway account that processes payments for program registrations, including acting as a conduit between payment gateway staff and the Finance Department.

Department & Operational Functions

  • Assist SVP with the management of business development program budgets.  Log and track program or event expenses.  Manage invoices and payment process for vendors with finance and department administrative support staff.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders across all NBPA departments to develop new Key Initiatives and Business Development programs.
  • Assist with event execution for revenue generating NBPA camps, clinics, tournaments, third-party events, and other new business opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate (Junior/Senior) or Graduate student
  • Working knowledge of basketball camps and clinics marketing and operations
  • Working knowledge and understanding of community-based organizations and government relations in NYC.
  • The ability to develop and maintain relationships to achieve business objectives with participants for program and event enrollment.
  • Ability to work with and manage high profile talent, NBA players, alumni and legends.
  • Understanding of the sports environment with professional basketball specialization.
  • Excellent oral communication skills, sharp analytical skills, good judgment, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high demands and tight time constraints.

Partnerships & Purpose Summer Intern

POSITION OVERVIEW: THINK450’s Partnerships & Purpose group is searching for a driven, motivated individual to join the team as an intern. This person will be an integral part of the team and expected to work across multiple disciplines to help develop and execute brand partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the team’s partnership prospecting efforts through industry, category, and prospect research
  • Join brainstorms and contribute creative ideas to upcoming and current projects
  • Support the team in the development of B2B sales materials including sell sheets, proposals and email outreach
  • Assist with the execution of sponsorship programs (e.g., events, branded content campaigns, etc.), including support with partner management
  • Assist with vetting of Group Licensing Rights partner creative
  • Create post-campaign recap presentations
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the NBPA image library
  • Leverage SAAS platforms to develop insights profiles for NBPA members
  • Intern will complete one (1) project and oral presentation prior to Internship completion

QUALIFICATIONS:

POSITION OVERVIEW: The NBPA is looking for an intern to be a part of our team that works on behalf of our members – NBA Players! Assist in reviewing annual revenue generated by NBA Teams and the NBA, in which the players share.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the NBPA team, including forensic accountants, lawyers, and business advisors to ensure all NBA teams and the NBA league office are reporting financial information in a manner that is consistent with their obligations under the CBA
  • Review contracts for financial/economic impact
  • Analyze team and league office reports for trends and drivers of fluctuations in revenues and expenses
  • Convert reports into usable Microsoft Excel formats to assist in the collective review of the information provided
  • Support where necessary in BRI special projects
  • Assist with meeting minutes, distributing documents to the NBPA team members, entering data, and providing general assistance.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate (Junior/Senior) or Graduate student
  • Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Labor-Management relations major
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Some experience in an office environment

Legal Summer Intern

POSITION OVERVIEW: The NBPA legal department is seeking an intern who is currently enrolled in law school to work from our midtown offices during the summer. The intern will have a defined set of daily monitoring and other tasks and will also provide support to the attorneys and staff on various projects. Candidates must possess strong organizational skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Keynote. Attention to detail and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently is required. The ideal candidate for this opportunity must have a genuine interest in protecting the rights of our members, and ideally would have some familiarity with the NBPA Regulations Governing Player Agents and the NBA/NBPA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Maintenance of our digital database for incoming player/agent contracts (SPACs). Intern will receive training on the approval and denial process and be responsible for recording executed SPACs
  • Assist in organizing correspondence and maintain and improve the department’s filing system
  • Letter and contract drafting as well as other legal writing
  • Legal research on labor, sports, commercial case law and other issues
  • Assistance with collective bargaining research and analysis

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited law school
  • Some experience in an office environment
  • Experience with legal writing, letter drafting and legal research
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
